It is estimated that 27,000 husbands, sons, fathers, and brothers will be lost to prostate cancer this year in the United States. Many of these deaths are preventable.
Scientific research shows that men are more likely to survive a prostate cancer diagnosis if their cancer is found early. In addition, regular exercise and healthy eating can decrease the likelihood of this disease. Some men have even changed their diet to eliminate cancer of the prostate.
Some men have increased risk factors for developing prostate cancer:
- Men over the age of 50
- African-American men
- Men with male relatives who had or have prostate cancer
